Life and Chipmunks

June 15, 2010

The story of my life. My family and I have a small strawberry patch that we were hoping to get some of our own home grown strawberries this year. One problem, the chipmunks had the same idea.

Chipmunks are ordinarily cute, fuzzy little beings that have nothing better to do than dash around and look cute while small children think of the lovable denizens of Disney lore, Chip and Dale. They can be funny creatures as they chase each other and frolic all the day long. And then comes growing season. And then they turn into malevolent little monsters with only one goal: to destroy, eat, and otherwise ruin your garden. They race back and forth stealing strawberries, tearing up plants etc. So, what does one do? Trap them?

A mouse trap does not work. We’ve tried. The beasts’ necks are so strong they bust the spring on the trap. (Well not really, but I’ve never caught one in them.) Rat traps don’t work. The beings are so fast they grab the bait, dance on the trigger and dart off before the large and bruising piece of metal comes down.

Shoot them? You can’t do it. A BB gun would surely kill them if it hit them. I think I might have knocked off a couple, but if you’re farther away than 5-10 yards good luck. The sound of the air blast alerts them and they zoom off, chittering as they go. Maybe a shotgun blast of birdshot might take out one, as well as three quarters of the yard. A rifle might work but the danger of a bullet ricocheting off the ground and hitting someone is a risk I’m not willing to take for strawberries. Maybe land mines?

But there is a bigger issue here. It is life. Sometimes we have to put up with things that annoy us, simply because doing something, anything is not always the best course. Sometimes we need to think out what we are going to do and do what we are going to do in a measured, controlled response. It also shows that certain things are not rights. We don’t have the right to have a taxpayer subsidized exterminator come out because of our strawberries. It is our own issue and we should deal with it as we see fit, so long as we don’t endanger other lives. Government cannot do for us, we must do for ourselves through individual initiative. It really also makes me realize just how incapable and awe-inspiringly stupid some government ideas are. Like that government knows better what Americans need and shouldn’t own, rather than we do. Why should bureaucrats tell us that we better buy health care, we shouldn’t buy that firearm etc. when they’ve never worked in the health industry and many of them haven’t ever fired a gun? Americans need to vote out the big government socialists and let our ballots do the talking. I think that’s something that even the chipmunks can rally behind.

Obama Bashes Opponents In Meat-chicken Speech

May 3, 2010

In a recent speech given by president Obama at the U of Michigan, Obama didn’t encourage the next leaders of our nation, economy etc to become the great thinkers and doers of tomorrow, but he bashed opponents who disagree with his idea of large government becoming the answer to all of our problems: “But what troubles me is when I hear people say that all of government is inherently bad,” said Obama, who received an honorary doctor of laws degree. “When our government is spoken of as some menacing, threatening foreign entity, it ignores the fact that in our democracy, government is us.”

Where do I start? First off let me address the idea that someone is saying all government is bad. No one is saying that, except the anarchists who are CRAZY. If there is too little government, things WILL fall apart. That is what led to the Constitution. The Articles of Confederation were so weak that the states were doing whatever they wanted and acting like their own countries. The Constitution was made so that the federal government was just strong enough to bond the states together and that’s it. Too much government leads to tyranny. The founders put us closer to anarchy, but far enough away that we’d stick together.

Secondly, our founders DID speak of government as a NECESSARY evil. George Washington said “Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” They saw that we needed a government, but wanted to seriously constrain it so that our own would never enslave us as the British did. That is why a strict interpretation of the Constitution is the only true interpretation. Activist judges have lead us down the road to totalitarianism, we are almost there. The IRS has been given new powers to enforce the health care mandate, the IRS is seeking out individuals with ‘combat experience’ as well as ordering new shotguns. Why does a tax collection agency need new shotguns and 16,000+ agents, some with combat experience? But I digress.

Lastly, nitpicking a bit, we are not a democracy but a republic. Our president can now, not only be titled ‘The Worst President of Our Lifetime and Beyond’, but historically stupid as well. Bravo Mr. President, or should I say (in honor of the bashing of the ‘irresponsible’ actions of Arizona) Senor El Presidente.

Now Is The Time…

March 22, 2010

Yes my friends, now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. This health care bill has passed. Now comes the time for legal action, civil disobedience and all other manners of opposition that we are legally entitled to as United States citizens. Now is the time for states to pass laws unbinding themselves from this burden that has been placed on their shoulders. Now is the time to call for the impeachment of Barack Obama for unconstitutional actions. Now is the time for citizens to refuse to adhere to an unconstitutional infringement upon their liberties. Now is the time for all good men to act.

Now is the time for Republicans and conservatives to restate their opposition to this bill and their commitment to having it repealed. Now is the time for Republicans to gear up to make sure that Barack Obama is a one term president. It is the time to ensure that Nancy Pelosi never again becomes the Speaker of the House, that once respectable house of the people that is now little more than an enclave of corruption, arm twisting and bribery, that once honorable institution that is now little more than a partisan playhouse wherein one party passes groundbreakingly bad legislation over the will of the people. Now is the time for all good men to act.

This bill will do nothing to address the problems with health care but will cause massive amounts of new problems. New government programs will allow for more red tape, less innovation, more taxes and worse care. This bill will provide federal funds for abortion despite Obama’s symbolic gesture of an executive order disallowing abortion funding. Stupak was duped and he screwed the American people with his vote. My prayer is that he will be replaced with a true pro-lifer. A conservative Republican. Now is the time for all good men to act.

Nothing we can say or do will remove the fact that socialist democrats have passed the most marxist, statist piece of legislation in the history of our proud Republic. But what we can say and do is repeal it before the damage is done. We must take this fight to the conservative Supreme Court and have it nullified by showing it’s true constitutional problems. This bill can be defeated even now, repealed, annulled, nullified. It can be and it should be. Let every Republican now raise his/her voice in support of taking this bill to the SCOTUS. It is the time for every Republican challenger and incumbent run on the repeal of this monstrosity. Now is the time for all good men to act.

I watched the whole spectacle yesterday. Starting at 1:30 in the afternoon I watched as Pelosi and co. were heckled by angry protesters all the way up to 11:45 P.M. after the final vote was cast. I watched as socialist dems cheered the demise of freedom in America. It was then that I swore in my wrath that I will do everything in my power to bring America back to where it was when I was a child. Where it should be according to the Constitution and our founding fathers. It is my time to do everything I can to support conservatives and Republicans like John Boehner, Michelle Bachmann and Mike Pence who resolutely fought this bill and continue to do so. Now is the time for all good men to act.

“Almighty God, Creator of all things, Upholder of the universe, we come before Thee today to ask that You not remove Thy gracious hand of blessing from our land. I ask that Thou put within the hearts of Americans a contrite spirit, that we might return to Thee and repent of our wicked ways. We ask that Thou protect our leaders, but that Thou might convict them and cause them to turn against this bill that dishonors You through the slaughter of the unborn. Please Lord we beseech Thee, save our land. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray, amen.”
