Hell(th) Care

March 19, 2010

My friends, we are on the brink of a precipice from which we will not easily return. Thanks to princess pelosi and the democrats, we are now simply 2 days and a vote away from becoming another country with socialized medicine. The sad thing is that 73% of Americans DON’T WANT this bill. According to several sources the phones on the hill are ringing off the hook with the vast majority of calls being against this monstrosity of a bill. Yet somehow, inside the beltway bubble and within princess pelosi, harry the hairy ape reid and obama’s sphere of influence, the representatives are more concerned with the speaker of the house than they are with their employers, the American people.

Now, for all the liberals/progressives/marxists/commies out there, well they’ll probably say ‘look at that idiot! He can’t spell (title) and doesn’t know how to capitalize (proper names). WRONG! I, An Informed Mind, know full well all the conventional rules of grammar, I am instead choosing to do what I can to oppose those that are usurping our rights and trampling our Constitution. Congressional democrats are going against the American people and I can guarantee you there is going to be a revolution in this country. But it is going to be a peaceful, electoral revolution. Americans are going to vote en masse to throw the jack-n-apes out of office come this November. And I can say this, they had better be prepared to defend this bill because the Republicans are coming and they are campaigning on the dems voting a health care bill down an unwilling public’s throat.

There is still hope that this bill won’t pass. Yes votes can become no votes through the public voicing their extreme hatred for this bill and by dems either seeing the light or feeling the heat. However, if it does pass, I will do everything in my power to force Congress and every elected official to repeal this infringement of our rights. Never before has government mandated the purchase of a good. Contrary to progressive, marxist theology, health care is not… wait let me say this with maximum emphasis NOT a right. Something that can be bought and sold is not a right but a good. Same as a car is not a right, nor a job. Only in Soviet Russia do they think that such things are rights. Rights come from GOD as stated in the Constitution: “We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Congress has no right to transfer, take or give rights. If they did it would be tyranny and that is exactly where we are headed.

All Christians that love their country should begin praying RIGHT NOW that this bill does not pass. “Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, upholder of the universe, we beseech Thee humbly in the name of Thy Son Jesus Christ, that Thou imbue our leaders with wisdom, that Thou strengthen the foundation of our Republic and that Thou change the minds of them that would vote for this bill. Lord, we know that all nations are next to nothing to You and that Thou regardest not a wicked man, but we ask Thee humbly to protect and preserve our nation by Thy providence and keep this bill from passing. We ask that we may glorify Thy name in honor, Amen.” I believe that the same God that removed the sickness from the body of Hezekiah, the same God that raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, the same God that made the sun stand still in the Valley of Aijalon can change the course of our history in that we may go back to freedom and liberty instead of into the long dark night of government tyranny. I believe that if we come humbly before Him, believing, in faith we can defeat this bill or repeal it if it does pass. Pray dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

For you conservatives that are not Christians we can still defeat this bill. However, I cannot unwind my Christianity from my conservatism. To me they are inextricably intertwined. It goes Christian, American, Conservative. All are important to me. But back on subject, flood Congress with your phone calls, emails, faxes, letters. Go to the Congressional offices and stage a sit-down. Take a bullhorn and make your voice be heard. Congress, if they don’t hear you now, they NEED to hear you SOON before this evil bill from the pit of hell is passed. If it is, it will be that much harder to repeal it.

How To Be Saved

March 14, 2010

Since I am a Christian who believes with all my heart that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for our sins, I find a burden on my heart from the Lord to tell those that come across my blog how to be saved. I am not a minister, though I do aspire to become one someday. I am simply a servant of the Lord and must obey His word.

First, ask yourself the question, have I ever stolen, committed adultery, lusted after someone? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain or used it as a curse? What about worshiping something besides God? If you have, you’ve sinned. I’ve sinned. I still do. I sin every day and usually many times a day. Sin is defined as doing what is contrary to what God says is right. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 NASB. No one is deserving of God’s grace and we all deserve to be punished for our sins.

If we were to be punished, we would all be going to hell. Hell is a place of torment where we are separated from God’s spirit and subject to eternal flames. And that is where we all deserve to go for violating God’s laws. However, God loves us so much that He doesn’t want anyone to have to experience that torment. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to pay for our sins. He lived a sinless life as fully human yet fully God. He was born of the virgin Mary. He was baptized by John the Baptist. He was tempted by the devil. But He didn’t sin. He was crucified on a Roman cross for you, and for me and for the whole world.

Roman crucifixion was one of the most brutal ways to die. The victim had his hands and feet nailed to the cross and usually died of suffocation after the Roman soldiers broke the victim’s legs. This made it much harder to push up and ultimately the victim could no longer breathe and died. However, Jesus’ legs were not broken. He voluntarily died and took our sins upon Himself. In this manner we have forgiveness, if we accept Him and His free gift of salvation.

But the glorious truth is that He didn’t remain in the grave. The grave couldn’t hold Him! After three days in the tomb He rose again! “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” Matthew 28:5-6 NKJV. Jesus Christ, Son of God, died on a Roman cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb and rose on the third day! And the most glorious truth of all is that His death and resurrection can set us free from our sins if we accept Him.

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” Romans 5:6 NKJV. Christ died for us. All you need to do is “…confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead…” and “…you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NKJV. You can have new life. You can have those sins forgiven. You can have peace with God. You can know that if you died right after you read this sentence you will be going to heaven and not hell.

Let me tell you about heaven. Heaven is the antithesis of hell. Heaven is a place of eternal joy, where no sorrow can inhabit and where you are in God’s presence forever. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Doesn’t heaven sound wonderful? You can know right now that heaven is where you’re going when you die.

All you need to do is pray a simple prayer. It can go something like this: “Lord, I know I’m a sinner. I know I deserve punished for my sins against You. But I confess that Jesus Christ is Your Son and is God and that He died and was resurrected to pay for my sins. I accept His free gift and make Him my Lord and Savior. In the name of Your Son Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.” It can be stated differently. There are no magic words involved. All it takes is a contrite heart and believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. He will save you and cleanse you from all your sins if you just accept Him.

If you do, I’d love to hear from you and maybe encourage you on your new journey. Write to me at aninformedmind@gmail.com. If you have any questions I’ll try to answer them, but I don’t pretend to know all the answers. Another excellent website to go to is http://www.billygraham.org

TBN: TV From Hell

March 3, 2010

That outlandish sounding headline is exactly what I believe. After watching a small portion of their annual Spring ‘Praise-a-Thon’ while being sick, I was so thoroughly disgusted that I almost felt like retching. Let me tell you why.

I have never liked the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Their ‘praise’ shows left me feeling like I had just watched a circus replete with begging for donations, proclamations of overabundant blessings (after a sizable donation to TBN of course) and faulty Bible preaching. People would be dancing around in the stands preparing to receive ‘the anointing’ that was surely going to come straight from God, flow through the exorbitantly bejeweled preacher and make everyone whole and prosperous. The preachers were sweating so hard the sweat rolled down their necks and soaked their suits. (I never knew how much Pentecostals say ‘watch this’ either!)

The whole thing stood in contradiction to the Bible’s command to be ‘sober and vigilant’ (I Peter 5:7) and that “for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” I Corinthians 14:33. Surely these ‘preachers’ must know the command that we are to represent God well and to do so we must be sober and vigilant? But that was not the worst of the problems of the show. They actively and almost entirely preach the gospel of prosperity and health. They give whole new meaning to the ‘name it, claim it’ gospel. One man equated TBN (with an estimated worth of over $1,000,000,000,000 and annual revenues of 200,000,000) with righteous Job (who lost everything he had, including 7 sons and 3 daughters, his entire servant corps, all his cattle, donkeys and oxen and dignity for a period). He said that in the same way that Job was attacked by the devil TBN had been attacked.

Really? Huh. Last time I looked there was very little of anything that was happening bad to TBN. Certainly nothing like the devil’s attacks on Job. You see, the devil attacks those that are doing things to advance God’s kingdom. The devil attacked Billy Graham when he was doing his crusades, the devil attacked the great evangelists of Billy Sunday and D.L. Moody, the devil attacked Jesus Christ because Jesus is the Man and the Glory, God incarnate, the Lamb of God, the Rose of Sharon, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. TBN has not been attacked because they teach utter heresy that actually advances Satan’s goal of hindering the Word of God’s spread.

TBN regularly hosts Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Benny Hinn, Jesse Duplantis and other ‘teachers’. Most if not all of their featured speakers ascribe to the prosperity gospel and other heretical teachings. Joel Osteen never preaches on sin, instead focusing on God’s good favor towards Christians. That’s all well and good except that church is not supposed to be a inspirational experience. Church is supposed to convict you, teach you, and uplift you in the Scriptures. In my short experience in listening to Osteen I have little remembrance of him using many scriptures whatsoever, let alone on the topics of sin, hell, death or any other ‘negative’ theme that has a place in ministry. As a church, you are supposed to present the Gospel in a way that if some unsaved person walks into your door, you can present it to him/her that he/she might hear and accept God’s free gift of mercy and love. Talking about love nonstop without the repentance aspect may make the unsaved feel comfortable, but that will not do their souls any good on the day of judgment. We must pray that Joel Osteen corrects his message to fit more in line with God’s Message.

Joyce Meyer on the other hand is one of the most prominent prosperity teachers. While she may have some more theologically sound doctrine, she also has over $400,000 worth of vehicles and at least 1 multimillion dollar private jet. She and her family live in gated seclusion from the community at large in $200,000+ houses. The ministry picks up the tab for the maintenance and upkeep of all property, houses and vehicles because ‘we travel so much’. Well if there is so much travel, why the need for such lavish homes that you spend little to no time in? (As a side note, the furnishings for the Meyer ministry headquarters cost close to $5 million)

Benny Hinn could be the worst of the list. Not only does he live lavishly but his heresies are well documented, yet he continues to have a huge platform to spew his unChristian beliefs. He once taught that there are as many as 9 persons in the Godhead (known as the Trinity) and that if he ‘had a Holy Spirit machine gun, I’d blow your head off.’ Sound like a born again, loving Christian? Hinn also has told viewers in the past that there would be such an outflowing of God’s favor that if viewers put their dead relatives’ caskets in front of the television screen and pressed their hands to it, they would be miraculously raised from the dead: “The word will spread that if some dead person be put in front of this TV screen, they will be raised from the dead — and they will be by the thousands…” [Praise the Lord, October 19th, 1999] (As a side note Jan Crouch, wife of the founder Paul Crouch, was in tears over her pet chicken’s miracle resurrection.)

Jesse Duplantis appears to be the most acceptable of them all. Why you ask? Because my sisters and I were once taken hostage by his cajun flavor and his smooth preaching. We thought he was great. But then some troubling things began popping up. Talking about money a little too often. Asking for donations at the end of every show despite having lavish and very beautiful furnishings behind him. Then we found out that he claimed he needed an $18,000,000 private airplane. Then buying a piano with $9,000 on hand. Eventually we found some things about him that shocked us. He talked about ‘angel-babies’ that became something on earth and how people that ‘didn’t quite live right on earth’ had to rest and eat special fruit in heaven and needed to work their way to being able to see God in heaven. Then he talked about a streetcar that took him to and from heaven. Then he talked about having to cheer up God and that God told him that He needed him. It went downhill fast. This man could be one of the worst. DO NOT LET HIM BECOME ENTRENCHED. Even after we learned these things about him his preaching style was hard to let go of. Like a tick, you need to pull him straight out otherwise his poisonous teachings might become entrenched in your soul. Despite his grandfatherly looks and smooth style, he is a heretic and needs to be confronted and set straight from his evil teachings.

TBN itself is heretical. It rakes in millions of dollars yet it uses that money on gold chairs, private jets, more and more satellites to spread their self-enriching prosperity gospel that does nothing but provide a false message and turns off people to the real message of Jesus Christ, that of salvation by faith in Him and the remission of sins. They should immediately renounce all their ties to faith-healers like Hinn and prosperity preachers and repent of their own heresies. God will forgive them if they repent of their doctrines of demons that have long ravished poor peoples’ souls.

What Thanksgiving Means To Me

November 25, 2009

Thanksgiving is upon us and it is time for all Americans of good will to give thanks for the blessings we have been bestowed with. But instead of giving the history of Thanksgiving, I will list some of the things that I am thankful for, in no particular order.

The first thing I’m thankful for is my family. No matter what happens I know that I can count on my family and they can count on me. We stick together through thick and thin and they are my best friends. I can talk with them about anything and they are always supportive of me. Family is supposed to be like that. In my opinion, if the Pilgrim’s families weren’t like that, America would not exist. Families kept the Pilgrims strong and willing to endure sacrifice to get to their ultimate end, which was a free country where they could practice their religion openly.

The second thing I am thankful for is my God and Savior Jesus Christ. I am thankful that He died for a wretch like me. I am a terrible sinner, deserving justice and punishment for my sins against God. But He, being a loving, merciful God provided a way that we might not need to face judgment. His Son’s death on the cross wiped away my sins and removed them as far from me as the east is from the west. Without Him I am nothing, with Him I can be anything. My past is forgiven, my future is sure. Nothing can happen to me that has not been allowed by Jehovah God, El Shaddai, El Sabaoth, The Lord of Hosts. I can live a justified life, and I will live for Him.

The third thing I am thankful for is the troops that serve night and day, ever vigilant, protecting us and the freedoms that we hold dear. As one once said, “It is not the poet that gives us the ability to enjoy words, but the soldier. It is not the reporter that gives us freedom of press, but the soldier. Everything that we now enjoy came through the blood of the soldier.” That is paraphrased a little, but the truth remains. We can thank God for the brave men and women who are serving our country overseas and here at home.

The third thing I’m thankful for is Ohio State football. Though I’ve never gone to OSU, seen a game from the ‘Shoe, or been anywhere close to Columbus they are my team. Six Big Ten championships, 1 national title in the past nine years, a growing and spectacular athlete in Terrelle Pryor and the ever-dominant defense. Next year we can easily be national contenders and we have a good chance of winning this Rose Bowl, which happens to be the first Rose Bowl Jim Tressel has gone to.

I’m thankful for friends that’ll stand by you. I have some friends that hold me up in my Christian walk and share my political beliefs as well. There’s not much else to say about that. But they are something, and someones that I’m thankful for.

I’m thankful for good health. My family has been healthy most of the fall and that is something I am thankful for. While we have practiced good hygiene such as washing hands frequently, sneezing into a tissue and then washing hands and not coughing into the air, overall our health is from God. Because health is wealth, we must be pretty darn welthy.

I’m also thankful that I live in America. With other countries regularly experiencing rioting, election violence, political prisoners etc. we can be thankful that we don’t have to deal with such things. Even with Obama and big government liberals running the show in D.C. we know that when we all get together we can kick the bums out on their bums.

So, I’ll end this little blog note. There’s pies to bake and turkey to prepare. While I won’t be doing as much of that, I will be doing much reflecting on all the things I have to be thankful for. So God Bless you, God Bless our troops, God Bless our leaders (and help them lead wisely) and God Bless America.

No New Post Tonight!

November 8, 2009

I will have no new post tonight because of the heated debate going on on the Drudge Retort. A defense of Christianity is being held by me and me alone. Therefore I devote all of my time today to making good points and proving truth through reason, the Bible etc.

Jesus Christ vs. Muhammed

October 23, 2009

It seems there are many in the media, the religious institutions and the public that want to compare Muhammed and Islam to Jesus and Christianity. But they are overlooking some very important yet non politically correct issues.

1. Muhammed ordered those that would not convert to Islam to be killed. In his famous Medina campaign, Muhammed and his followers slaughtered those that did not convert peaceably. While it is true Muhammed first offered the intended Islamized conversion and peace, when they refused he brought out the sword. Killing old men, women and children alike, Muhammed showed no mercy. On the contrary, Jesus tells us to preach the gospel peacefully and told His disciples that “He who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword.” Does this sound like a madman bent on converting non-believers at the edge of a sword? Jesus also repeatedly tells His disciples and us to “love your enemies, bless them that persecute you, and do good to them that spitefully use you.”

2. Muhammed received divine revelation and permission from Allah to take multiple wives to himself, one of which he married at 7 and consumated the marriage with at 9. Jesus however, stated that marriage is between one man and one woman for life. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” Matthew 19:5 ESV Does this sound like Jesus condoning polygamy?

3. Allah is not Jehovah. Allah is vengeful, wrathful and enjoys sending people to hell. The Koran tells us numerous times that even an Islamic person cannot be guaranteed of eternal salvation until Judgment Day. Whereas the Bible tells us that God wishes no one to perish and the angels in heaven rejoice over every sinner that repents. (Luke 15:10) Jehovah God loved us enough to send His only Son to die that we might live. Allah of Islam says that the only way of guaranteed eternal life in Paradise is to die for the cause of Islam and preferably by killing one or more infidel.

4. Islam states that Islam is the government and if the government is not Islamic, it is not to be submitted to. Many Islamic nations consider their national sovereignty secondary to Islamic rule. Christianity states that Christians are to submit to their secular government, unless that government is specifically ordering the citizens contrary to God’s word. Therefore, Islamic laws often allow for inhumane treatment of criminals. For instance, Islamic law states that the correct punishment for thieves is having the right hand cut off at the wrist. The punishment for adultery is eighty lashes. That is basically a death sentence. Apostasy from Islam is punishable by death.

5. Christianity is a relationship. Islam is religion. Religion has rules, regulations, laws, ordinances and other restrictive policies. A relationship is liberating. While Islam focuses on following rules, Christianity focuses on loving Christ more every day. Christianity is based on your faith in God and His Son’s atoning blood. Islam is based upon your works, and you can never know if your good works outweigh your bad deeds until the scales are balanced. I can love God who loved me enough to send His Son to die for me, I cannot love a god that states that you need to kill others to get to heaven.

So for those that want to compare the two, one must look at all the facts rather than political correctness. Christianity is a world different than Islam.
